The 24th edition of Athens Xclusive Designers Week, the official fashion week of Athens, Greece, held between October 31st and November 4th, has been accomplished with great success. For five days, the Greek capital turned into an international fashion hub, welcoming designers from Greece and from various parts of the world, international Press representatives and fashion buyers. Special highlight of the season: AXDW had the honour of hosting two internationally acknowledged Special Guests of Honour, who attended the fashion week and realized spectacular fashion shows: Diego Dolcini and Zuhair Murad.

DAY 1

The talented designer Sotiris Georgiou opened the fashion week with his new collection S/S 2019 "Oblique" at Athens Conservatoire. An urban style collection with metallic fabric, cycling shorts, neon colors, cool wool and anoraks.  The designer also presented a selection of menswear.

Kathy Heyndels & Giannetos Handmade presented their collections at the atmospheric Upper House of City Link. Kathy Heyndels' new collection F/W 19 "Ellipse" comprised of  maxi dresses with feminine slides, combined with leather, lace and sheer details and coats in dark colors. The designer's bridal dresses were also presented. The popular Menswear House Giannetos Handmade showcased velour tuxedos mainly in purple, blue and black. Guest appearance on the catwalk was Lianna Perdis, who walked the runway dressed in a men's outfit.

DAY 2

The second day started with the Romanian brand Flori de IE presenting the new collection "Fleurs de paon" at Zappeion Hall. Having as main theme the peacock, recognized as a symbol of beauty with creations dedicated to special events - red carpet, party, bridal and cocktail, included dresses on which peacocks were painted and then applied beads, vests and coats.

The Romanian successful designer Catalin Botezatu presented impressive dresses with bold prints in a special concept-show where all the models were wearing crowns and holding masques.

Clean silhouettes, hand-painted images on silk and other natural fabrics were Art.Look's staple look in the new ready to wear collection of the Bulgarian brand. Aptly titled "Fashion Melody" was inspired by the feminine elegance of the late 80s and early 90s.

One of the most famous Romanian brands, Miau by Clara Rotescu presented luxurious and chic dresses accessorized with impressive pearls and natural stones.

Tassos Mitropoulos presented his new collection 'Groove in the heart' for S/S '19, with prevalent feminine elements, slim fit dresses, sensual laces, beautiful slides, leather and PVC details that highlight every woman's body.

The second day closed with special guest designer Diego Dolcini, celebrating his 25 years anniversary in the fashion industry, who presented a limited edition collection through a breath taking show-installation, at the atrium of Zappeion Hall. Heels and flats, boots and sandals, made of fine leather, Baccarat crystal, silk and feathers, in the iconic Baccarat colours: ruby, amber, amethyst and black.

 

DAY 3

Friday November 2nd, the day was dedicated to young creators and New Designers Awards who presented impressive collections to the public and jury, contesting for the important awards Best Catwalk, Best Trendsetter and Best New Designer, which correspond to significant prizes for their forthcoming career in fashion. The award ceremony was held in the atrium of Zappeion Hall. The presenter of the evening was the famous actress and presenter, Zeta Douka. The evaluation jury was formed by respected personalities of the local and international fashion world: Omi Chowdhury fashion editor & photographer of Deux Mag, Daniela Shaw, fashion reporter of GXTV of China, Kathryn Marino president of Orange County Fashion Week, Aliki Demi and Spiros Xylas from the Greek fashion school Fashion Workshop.

Klelia Andrali was distinguished as the winner of the Best New Designer Award with her new capsule collection "Creepy Smiles" that impressed the jury and the audience.

Anastasia Laftsidi won the Best Catwalk Award with her collection "Fledge".

Heliana, a fresh fashion brand from Cyprus, won the Best Trendsetter Award with a collection full of sensual femininity and modern graphic elegance.

In addition, on the third day, Lefkon, winner of last season's New Designers Awards, showcased her new collection "Catharsis" with minimal creations mainly in white and grey shades. Luna Morgaciova, the emerging Romanian designer, showcased a colorful collection with impressive 3D printing.

 

DAY 4

Coral Castillo, the designer from Los Angeles, opened the 4th day of AXDW showcasing maxi dresses with lace and sheer details while the bridal creations that were also presented impressed the audience.

The Romanian designer Andreea Dogaru presented an Haute Couture collection with embroidery and hand-made applications.

Velvet, satin, metal fabrics, golden details had a leading figure in the new collection of NASH by Natasha Avloniti while Loukia Kyriakou presented        S/S 19 creations with lace and sheer fabrics being protagonists in the dresses she showcased.

On the afternoon of Saturday November 3rd, the guests of Athens Xclusive Designers Week had the pleasure of enjoying a unique show: Zuhair Murad, attending as special guest of honor of the 24th AXDW, showcased for the first time the Ready-to-Wear collection S/S 19 in daylight, at the magnificent atrium of Zappeion Hall. Amazing long gowns and short dresses, lace and embroidery with semi-precious gemstones, in shades of red, purple, black and beige were prevalent. A breathtaking ready to wear collection that gives the feeling of haute couture. More than 600 guests attended the show and were impressed by the creations presented.

"Un Petite Defile", a creative fashion show in cooperation with Le Petit Marseillais, inspired by the spirit of the French Provence took place also on Saturday with a delightful floral deco, amazing gowns from acknowledged Greek fashion designers and naturally healthy hairstyles based on the SS19 color palette. The Main Catwalk Hall of Zappeion Megaron was transformed in a dreamy blooming garden!

The Artians by Konstantina, the brand of Konstantina Kampisopoulou, presented the S/S 2019 collection titled "Dyas" with colorful prints in kimonos and kaftans.

Olga Karaververis presented a collection of evening and cocktail dresses that highlight the elegance and femininity, in white and black through her new collection "Eclipse".

The day closed with the famous Greek designer Daphne Valente, showcasing her new collection "Making Waves" spreading an environmental message through her creations that were inspired by the sea and its colors.

DAY 5

Inspired by the 90's glamour Vassilis Zoulias showcased his new collection S/S 2019 in a unique show on Sunday November 4th in a beautiful setting at the atrium of Zappeion Hall. Dramatic outfits adorned with imposing jewelry by Pericles Kondylatos and impressive hats by Katerina Karoussos, long elegant dresses in bold colours some of which with "secret" pants, classy deux pieces and glamourous sequin were the highlights of the new collection.

The next show was by the talented graduates of the Fashion Workshop fashion school, who presented a selection of creative designs and innovative outfits.

Clon8 realized a special concept-fashion show with models dancers who were changing clothes live, on the catwalk, depicting the various ways the creations of the brand can be combined.

The upcoming designer Irene Angelopoulos, impressed the audience with her new collection "Dinner with goddesses" while the singer Irini Papadopoulou made a special performance opening the show of the designer.

With his source of inspiration, Delos, a Cycladic isle shed in the Apollonian light of the Aegean Sea, Valtadoros showcased his new collection with luxurious and scarce elements in an androgynous mixture of black and white.

Gaffer & Fluf showcased the new collection "Between the Lines" that braces minimal with avant-garde with Japanese blue, warm terracotta, soft ocher and lively green being dominant.

The brand Peace & Chaos closed the shows at Zappeion Hall with the new collection "The Substance of light" where the sporty vibe with colorful prints had a leading role.

During the fashion shows at Zappeion Hall, guests had the chance to view the collections of several Greek jewelry and accessories designers in the special exhibition section Xclusive Elements. The 24th edition of AXDW was completed on Sunday night with the fashion show of the famous designer duo MI-RO, at Athens Conservatoire presenting their new haute couture collection A/W 2018-19 in a total-red scenery with more than 500 guests attending their stunning show. Sequin, embroideries and fringes were the highlights of the collection, including beautiful evening dresses in red, deep purple, red and black colours.
