International buyers and journalists at the 19th Fashion Week of Athens, Athens Xclusive Designers Week

Introductory lunch with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Elena Kountoura at the museum of Acropolis


The International Fashion Week of Athens, Athens Xclusive Designers Week, loyal to its vision of exporting Greek fashion and its creators, managed to assure the presence of very important international buyers and journalists for its 19th edition from April 8th to 11th.

The international guests of AXDW watched the presentation of the designers' collections and visited the special section for fashion accessories creators, Xclusive Elements, in order to explore the possibility of commercial partnerships.

As part of their visit, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in cooperation with Athens Xclusive Designers Week hosted a lunch at the Acropolis Museum, where Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Elena Kountoura, international guests as well as the President of Greek Fashion Week, Mrs. Tonia Fouseki, had the opportunity to discuss about their impressions about the Organization, the catwalks that they watched, the Greek creativity and the field of apparel in our country. The international journalists and buyers exchanged views with the Deputy Minister and the President of AXDW about the development and further extroversion of Greek fashion, they transferred their experience from other fashion weeks from abroad and talked about public infrastructure enhancement and support of the field, while the journalists did not miss the chance to ask Mrs. Kountoura for her experience on international catwalks and her success in the field of global fashion market. They were amazed by the great hospitality and the high standards of the Greek designers and the Organization.

The Deputy Minister talked about the dynamics of fashion, which can act as a catalyst for growth of the Greek economy and operate complementary towards the enhancement of tourism in our country. Before the lunch, the international guests of the Organization had the chance to admire the great beauty of the Sacred Rock of Acropolis and the Parthenon, in a tour organized by GNTO, as well as the Acropolis' museum.

AXDW hosted the representatives of well-known e-shops, showrooms, retail stores, department stores, concept stores from London, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia)and Washington, Miami, Dusseldorf and other cities.

Furthermore, representatives of very significant media from Milan, Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Brussels, Zurich, the U.S.A. and more, were also at 19th AXDW and had the opportunity to admire the Greek creativity and contribute to the promotion of it, globally. Indicatively, among others, the representative of Vogue It, the representative of KaltBult Magazine, international fashion magazine, the representative of Forbes.com, international news website, and other well-known international fashion blogs from Europe were hosted.
